I am following the instructions on
https://firebase.google.com/codelabs/firebase-get-to-know-flutter#5 and then
https://firebase.google.com/codelabs/firebase-get-to-know-flutter#6.
The instructions worked like a charm. I have two emulators (web and Android phone) communicating successfully as shown below. See the messaging at the bottom. I limited the display to 3 messages by inserting the following
.limit(3)
in
_guestBookSubscription
declaration.
John is on the web emulator (on the right) and Hal is on the Android Pixel Phone emulator (on the left). User;s messages can also be seen on Firebase Console:
The strings in the second column are the message labels automatically generated by Firebase when the user sends the message. The userId in the second column is the user ID automatically generated by Firebase when the user logs in.
This is working. I now have to understand the Flutter code that did it 😗.
